Cookie policy

What are cookies?

The cookies we're talking about are less tasty and contain considerably less chocolate than the cookies that you might be thinking of, but they are just as worthy of your attention.

Cookies are files stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone while you are surfing the internet. These cookies can only be read by the website or application that stored them. As well as other useful functions, these small files ensure that you can use a website without the need to log in every time.

What are cookies used for?

If you grant our website permission to store cookies during each visit, this has the following benefits for you:

  • Faster and easier browsing in our stores
  • Increased ease of use: you don't need to repeatedly enter the same information
  • Extra features such as recently-viewed products, and the use of a shopping cart
  • Monitoring your visit to our website, so that we can improve the website and make the experience as pleasant as possible
  • Ensuring the adverts you see on other media are relevant and interesting

Which cookies do we use, and why?

Session cookies are cookies that are only stored for the duration of your visit and which are often essential for the operation of the website. Session cookies expire as soon as the session ends. Some functional cookies may also be session cookies. Session cookies may be used to provide shopping cart functionality, recently-viewed products, faceted searching and other features.

Permanent cookies are cookies stored by one of our applications for longer than the duration of the session. These cookies are often stored by third-party applications that we work with to improve services. For example, cookies stored by our test software allow us to guarantee a continuous and consistent experience when using our website.

Examples of permanent cookies:
Analytical cookies are cookies that provide us with information about how users interact with our website; we use them so we can offer you and others a better shopping experience in the future.

The following list summarises a few of the types of information we collect, although this list is not exhaustive:

  • Anonymised IP address
  • Pseudonymised personal data
  • Browser, browser version, device category, screen resolution, operating system
  • The page from which you arrived when visiting the website, the pages you visit, and the duration of your visit to our website

Advertising cookies allow us to show targeted adverts that are relevant to you. These cookies store:

  • The products you have viewed but not purchased
  • How far you have proceeded in the shopping process
  • The adverts you have seen
  • The adverts you have clicked on
  • Whether you have visited our website again after having seen or clicked on an advert
